Kink Down South (KDS) is growing from a “ground-up” dream run by a few volunteers into a much larger kink community event organizer. As our needs evolve, so must our leadership. We are expanding with new volunteer roles to support the ever-growing work needed to run our events, support our community, and to ensure KDS can continue to be executed events smoothly!
Whether you want to provide high-level strategic guidance on our Advisory Board or get your hands dirty on the KDS Weekend leadership team, we want you to showcase your passion, your kinks, and your expertise!

Open Roles
Creative Director (BOA) - KDS Advisory Board
Commitment: Year-round Advisory Board seat. 2-year minimum with the opportunity to extend.
Responsibilities: You are the keeper of the KDS visual soul. Provide year-round creative strategic guidance that supports the KDS mission and vision.
Oversee all creative efforts and team members, including the branding for non-KDS Weekend events like Harnessed and Fet Gala.
Supervise and mentor the Creative Manager (KDSW) to ensure a cohesive brand experience and report on the progress of KDSW efforts to the Board and Executive Directors.
Technical Skills: Should be proficient in using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator with knowledge of graphic design and marketing. Graphic Illustration skills are a bonus!
Operations Manager (KDSW) - KDS Weekend Leadership Team
Commitment: Year-round commitment to the KDS Weekend Leadership Team.
Responsibilities:
- Support non-technical logistics, including equipment rentals, event layouts, and design.
- Ensure that the physical execution of KDS Weekend aligns with the strategic operations plan.
- Supervise the Safety/Security Lead to ensure a secure environment for all attendees.
Volunteer Manager (KDSW) - KDS Weekend Leadership Team
Commitment: Year-round position on the Working Board.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the recruitment, training, and scheduling for the KDS Weekend volunteer base.
- Manage volunteer outreach and communications via Eventeny (our event management software)
- Partner with the Volunteer Director to develop and distribute training for Volunteers.
Creative Manager (KDSW) - KDS Weekend Leadership Team
Commitment: Year-round commitment to the Working Board.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the creative theme development and asset creation for KDS Weekend.
- Partner with the Volunteer Manager to identify and deploy volunteers for creative projects (e.g., decorating, installation).
- Directly supervise the Creative/Visual Lead and Social/Comms roles during KDS Weekend.
Production Manager (KDSW) - KDS Weekend Leadership Team
Commitment: 6 Months before KDS Weekend. (Approx. March – August)
Responsibilities:
- Manage Technical Operations (AV and Tech Equipment) for KDS Weekend.
- Work with external tech vendors to ensure sound and lighting meet the needs of our events.
- Coordinate with the Operations Manager to ensure all tech support aligns with the physical event layout.
- Coordinate with the Volunteer Manager to ensure appropriate recruitment of volunteers to support AV needs.
Stage Manager / Show Runner (KDSW) - Leads & Managers
Commitment: 6 Months before KDS Weekend. (Approx. March – August)
Responsibilities:
- Outreach, selection, and planning of performances, including dancers, DJs, and performance artists, throughout KDS Weekend.
- Creating show schedules and communication performance requirements for Operations.
- Managing talent on site during the KDS Weekend festival and defining handler needs for nightlife events.
Safety/Security Lead (KDSW) - Leads & Managers
Commitment: 6 Months before KDS Weekend. (Approx. March – August)
Responsibilities:
- Manage needs and requirements for EMS and security teams throughout KDS Weekend.
- Review and document venue(s) ADA capabilities to empower attendee experience.
- Provide a point of contact for the EMS and security teams throughout the KDS Weekend festival (Escalation paths pre-defined for emergencies)
- Reviewing performance descriptions and requirements for any potential hazards or areas of concern based on the venue.
Vendor Lead (KDSW) - Leads & Managers
Commitment: 6 Months before KDS Weekend. (Approx. March – August)
Responsibilities:
- Manage vendor onboarding and communications.
- Finalize vendor needs leading up to KDS Weekend and communicate equipment requests to operations.
- Oversee Vendor Load-In and Load-Out
Creative/Visual Lead (KDSW) - Leads & Managers
Commitment: 6 Months before KDS Weekend. (Approx. March – August)
Responsibilities:
- Partner with the Creative Manager to plan visual layout and signage for KDS Weekend
- Oversee creative placement and signage during setup of KDS Weekend, as well as breakdown of materials for storage.
- Support the execution of any creative installations.
Optional Opportunites:
- Help manufacture/build any creative installations leading up to KDS Weekend.
Education Manager (KDS) - Leads & Managers
Commitment: Year-Round
Responsibilities:
- Develop year-round education opportunities, both in-house and partnerships, including Gear Night Demos and Stand-Alone Education Events
- Oversee the outreach and education selection for KDS Weekend.
- Build relationships with kink and fetish educators – both locally and beyond the southeast.
Social/Comms (KDS) - Leads & Managers
Commitment: Year-Round
Responsibilities:
- Maintain KDS socials (IG, Facebook, Bluesky), including post scheduling and inquiry responses.
- Perform basic website updates (WordPress) – no WordPress experience needed.
- Provide basic copywriting/proofing for captions and email communications.
